LO2: Client proposal

Title of product "XAK - Automatic"

XAK is a Sheffield based artist with a new song called Automatic. He has a need for an entertaining visual to support his debut song. The genre of music is Hip-hop and would like common conventions of this genre such as shot types and animation to feature. Since XAK is young we want to produce a vibrant, high energy music video to match the song lyrics and energy.

The artist needs for this video:

• Produce for the start of summer, 1st of July
• 4 different locations 
• High quality music video 
• 2 out fit changes
• Include colourful lighting

To apply to the brief given I will produce a production schedule and gantt chart to organise time so the video is produced in time for the deadline. For the summer theme I was thinking of shooting the video in more rural areas so the colours are more vibrant. To maintain a high quality product shooting on two 4K Sony cameras will allow us to get a range of shots at the same high quality. For cinematic effect using a JIB and camera stabiliser will allow for steady cinematic panning shots. With outfit changes the artist has an eye for fashion and will pick his own outfits, this will lower costs of production. Lighting will include coloured LED, strobe lights and soft boxes. This will make for a varied pop in colour and allow for cinematic shots.

The product will have a reoccurring theme of editing so it appears as old VHS video. This will add a juxtaposition of old and new. Since the artist is modern day hip hop this would work really well. Common genre low angle,  fish eye lens shots will be apparent in the video representing codes set by popular hip hop videos such as Kanye west and Jay z. The video will also include animation to emphasise lyrics. I think animation will be the most fitting to the clients brief of 'entertainment' since this will add interesting visual elements.
